Bio & Credits
Torna (AKA Ronnie DiSimone) is a Brooklyn-based music producer, songwriter, musician, and engineer. He specializes in highlighting what makes each individual artist unique, while striking an effortless balance between what will resonate with fans and what will push the sonic envelope.
A 10-year veteran NYC studio rat, Ronnie got his start assisting Nick Sansano (Sonic Youth, Run DMC, Le Tigre) before becoming a Staff Engineer at Studio G Brooklyn, where he engineered and assisted on recordings for Sesame Street (HBO), Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (Netflix), Jesse Malin, and Jukebox the Ghost, to name a few. Ronnie recently opened his own studio Tightrope Recording, now his primary base of operation.
As a producer, Ronnie’s work is marked by impressive stylistic malleability and a balance of timeless & forward-thinking production aesthetics. His work elevates artist and song above all else, helping to build recordings for Daisy the Great, Del Water Gap, Phosphorescent, Halima, Nisa, Sabrina Song, Darryl Rahn, Alex Winston, Kinneret, Johan Lenox, Sam Setton and many others.
Ronnie has performed and toured as a guitar player since the age of 17, over the years backing up Jon Anderson (Yes), Napoleon Murphy Brock and Denny Walley (Frank Zappa & the Mothers of Invention), Perry Farrell (Jane’s Addiction), Brad Roberts (Crash Test Dummies), Maddie Zahm, and more. He holds a Master’s Degree in Music Composition from NYU and has held positions at VEVO, Downtown Music Publishing, and Domino Recording Company. Ronnie’s collaborative electro-pop project, Nisa + Torna, released their debut mixtape “Vision Board” in April 2023.
